Statistical Validation of Stochastic Models
نویسنده
چکیده
It is common practice in structural dynamics to develop mathematical models for system behavior, and wa are now capable of developing stochastic models, i.e., models whose parameters are random variables. Such models have random characteristics that are meant to simulate the randomness in characteristics of experimentally observed systems. This paper suggests a formal stat ist ical procedure for the validation of mathematical models of stochastic systems when data taken during operation of the stochastic system are available. The statistical characteristics of the experimental system are obtained using the bootstrap. a technique for the statistical analysis of nonGaussian data. We propose a procedure to determine whether or not a mathematical model is an acceptable model of a stochastic system with regard to user-specified measures of system behavior. A numerical example is presented to demonstrate the application of the technique.

متن کاملModel Validation and Discovery for Complex Stochastic Systems
In this thesis, we study two fundamental problems that arise in the modeling of stochastic systems: (i) Validation of stochastic models against behavioral specifications such as temporal logics, and (ii) Discovery of kinetic parameters of stochastic biochemical models from behavioral specifications. We present a new Bayesian algorithm for Statistical Model Checking of stochastic systems based o...
متن کاملHydrological Drought Forecasting Using Stochastic Models (Case Study: Karkheh watershed Basin)
Hydrological drought refers to a persistently low discharge and volume of water in streams and reservoirs, lasting months or years. Hydrological drought is a natural phenomenon, but it may be exacerbated by human activities. Hydrological droughts are usually related to meteorological droughts, and their recurrence interval varies accordingly. This study pursues to identify a stochastic model (o...
متن کاملRidge Stochastic Restricted Estimators in Semiparametric Linear Measurement Error Models
In this article we consider the stochastic restricted ridge estimation in semipara-metric linear models when the covariates are measured with additive errors. The development of penalized corrected likelihood method in such model is the basis for derivation of ridge estimates. The asymptotic normality of the resulting estimates are established. Also, necessary and sufficient condition...
متن کاملStochastic Restricted Two-Parameter Estimator in Linear Mixed Measurement Error Models
In this study, the stochastic restricted and unrestricted two-parameter estimators of fixed and random effects are investigated in the linear mixed measurement error models. For this purpose, the asymptotic properties and then the comparisons under the criterion of mean squared error matrix (MSEM) are derived. Furthermore, the proposed methods are used for estimating the biasing parameters. Fin...
